The Offspring tickets are selling fast, but some fans have an intriguing theory about the band's latest hit album.

As their huge North America tour approaches, people over on Reddit are debating whether or not 2024 album Supercharged was written with a helping hand from AI.

Kicking off the controversial debate, one fan wrote, "I get the sense that it was written by AI [...] Dexter [Holland] probably asked AI to write 20 The Offspring songs, then took the best parts of them and used them in Supercharged."

Explaining their logic, the fan added: "The album is just so formulaic and screams 'average AI produced content'."

Another agreed, as they said: "I was actually wondering the same thing. There are so many moments on this album that sound eerily similar to other The Offspring songs, not to mention other bands. I mean, I don't think it was 100% written by AI, but I have a feeling they trained AI on their catalog and got some kicks to see what it would [deliver]."

A third shared, "The whole album sounds like AI. Every song except for the very last song. It would be hilarious if they did this on purpose. Sort of an f*** you to AI. If you have ever played with an AI music generator, this is exactly what it sounds like."

While there is nothing to suggest the band used AI to produce the album, UNILAD has reached out to their reps for comment.

Meanwhile, others aren't as convinced. One fan argued, "I agree that a lot of the (even the better ones) songs feel a little 'Offspring 101' formulaic, but it's not AI, it's Dexter-brain. All the digital stuff is saved for his voice."
