Latto addresses public spat she had with Nicki Minaj regarding comments on Recording Academy

The rapper clashed with Minaj on Twitter last year.

In a recent interview, Latto has addressed the very public spat she had with Nicki Minaj on social media.

Back in October, the two singers had a bit of an argument on Twitter against the Recording Academy.

Minaj took to the popular social media app to claim that her track 'Super Freaky Girl' had originally been submitted into the rap categories but was later moved to the pop division.

While Minaj insisted that she had no problem with the change, she added that consistency should be applied across the board.

The American artist made her point by bringing up 'Big Energy' by Latto.

Minaj wrote: "I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY.

"If [‘Super Freaky Girl’] has 2B moved out RAP then so does Big Energy! ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll."

As you'd probably expect, Latto responded to Minaj on Twitter, saying: "Damn I can’t win for losing… all these awards/noms I can’t even celebrate."

After that, a lot of shots were fired, with Minaj referring to Latto as an 'entitled Karen' who has mentioned her name 'in over 100 interviews'.

In the Twitter beef, Latto said that she admired Minaj while growing up, but that had seemingly changed after their public spat.

Latto went on to refer to Minaj as a 'super freaky grandma', something that Minaj also responded to in the never-ending Twitter bout.

Minaj called out Latto for age shaming, with Latto saying, 'Ur literally older than my mom'.

Minaj angrily replied: "Age shaming when you look like YOU the one pushing 40.

"Age shaming but was BEGGING for a feature. Imagine what dem genes gon do in 10 years Oh so you in your 20’s.

"Oh ok then. At least it match your album sales. You sold 20K right? Mad u flopped. That’s why u rlly [sic] mad”

The two did eventually delete all the tweets, though they are obviously still out there for all to see.

Many months later, Latto has reflected on the feud in an interview with Billboard.

She said: "It’s difficult navigating through situations like that because there’s a disconnect.

" I will look at myself as a fan of someone and they will view [me] in a whole different light.

"It’s disappointing. You just got to take it to the chin and keep pushing."
