Elon Musk has gone on a bizarre Twitter rampage about pop icon Taylor Swift.

He said some things. He made some comparisons. And now we can't unsee it.

The tech billionaire took to social media to ask one very serious question: Had anyone else noticed that Taylor Swift looks exactly like Napoleon Dynamite?

The 51-year-old tech genius wrote: "[I] am a Taylor Swift fan – of course – but how do we know for sure they’re different people?"

With his odd question, he also shared a picture of the character from the 2004 cult classic movie alongside the American singer.

People on Twitter had a few things to say... and boy, it was a rollercoaster of emotions.

One user said: "As both a Musk fan and a Taylor Swift fan, this is not the crossover I wanted."

A second chipped in with: "The crossover which was unexpected."

Another added: "Someone come get the owner of Twitter's phone, please. Now I can’t unsee it."

One kept it simple with: "What a time to be alive."

Others fought fire with fire, taking aim at Musk's own visage to tear strips off the former richest person in the world.

They fired back: "You literally look like you were dropped in a dumpster full of feet as a baby."

Several others told the Tesla boss to 'go to horny jail'.

Ouch. Twitter can be a brutal place sometimes.

We've never seen Napoleon Dynamite and Taylor Swift in the same room at the same time, so we're not dismissing this theory entirely.

Stranger things have happened, so who knows? Maybe she is Napoleon Dynamite.

Maybe she isn't. But life is a mystery like that and then you die, so YOLO.

It seems the Twitter boss may have had a few of Swift's hits on repeat, because that wasn't the only Taylor-related tweet recently.

In response to a variety of images tweeted by the 33-year-old singer, Musk replied with a smoking emoji.

We checked in with an expert on emoji use - so, the closest Gen Z person - and the icon means the sender of the emoji finds something 'smoking' hot.

But how did this odd Twitter storm happen? Well, the bizarre string of tweets kicked off when Dogecoin creator Billy Markus, 40, posted: "Taylor Swift rules and if you disagree you’ll be kicked off the internet I’m pretty sure."

Musk fired back with praise for Swift, calling out her incredible ability to transform everyday language into emotive and compelling lyrics and music.

"Her limbic resonance skill is exceptional," the Twitter head honcho wrote.

In another response, one user asked Musk if he and the 'Blank Space' singer would make a cute couple.

He simply responded with a crying laughing emoji.

So, yeah. That's where we're at right now, but, in all seriousness, are we sure Taylor Swift isn't actually an awkward, tater-tot loving teen who seems to be constantly waging war against Tina the Llama as she refuses to come get her ham?

We sure aren't. So how's that for a noodle scratcher.
