Dolly Parton has a secret song that may only be released after she's dead

Dolly Parton has a track locked away in a time capsule at Dollywood for release in 2045

Dolly Parton has confirmed the rumours that she has a ‘secret song’ stashed away at her Dollywood amusement park, but claims she regrets it.

Here she is explaining the truth behind the rumours:

For a while now there has been speculation about a hidden Dolly Parton song tucked away somewhere in a ‘Dream Box’ at Dollywood’s DreamMore resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The song is set to be released in 2045, by which time Dolly will – in all sad likelihood – no longer be with us.

The rumours first started to swirl in 2021 when Parton said as much in her book, and now they’ve been confirmed once and for all by the woman herself.

Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the host seemed a bit taken aback when Dolly expanded on the subject.

“That’s the truth,” the 'Jolene' singer said.

She continued: “We do a lot of things at Dollywood, and one year, we thought about that.

“They asked me if would write a song that nobody would ever hear.

“I’ll be dead and gone, well I might not be, cause I’ll be 99. You know me, I might still be hoppin’ around.”

Let’s hope so, Dolly.

Anyway, she went on to explain how she put the CD in a box and even included a CD player, because they might be in short supply by then, and some notes on how she was creating music at the time of the record.

However, she also said that she now regrets the decision to lock the song away in a box for future generations.

That’s simply because she reckons it is a really great song, and she could release it.

Of course, that would mean her making another song – perhaps one that she isn’t so happy with – in order to fill the box back up.

Dolly explained: “I don’t know what they’ll do with it, but I have regretted that because it was a really good song,

“I keep wantin’ them to let me dig it up put something else in it that isn’t as good.”

She did also say that she hopes that everyone enjoys it when they eventually hear it in 23 years.

As she mentioned, she’ll be 99 years old by that point, so there is a chance that she’ll still be around when the time capsule is finally opened and the world gets to hear the hidden Dolly tune.

Again, we can only hope so, Dolly.

We can only hope so.
