The teaser trailer for Pinocchio has been released.

The live-action remake features a stellar cast, from Beauty and the Beast's Luke Evans, Goodfellas' Lorraine Bracco, and of course, the beloved Tom Hanks.

Walt Disney Studios has since released its first teaser trailer, giving a first look at Hanks as Geppetto, the wood carver who takes on the role of a father figure to Pinocchio.

Check it out below:

Disney describes the flick as a 'retelling of the beloved tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy'.

Alongside Hanks, 13-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, known best for his role as Miles Wingrave in The Haunting of Bly Manor, is taking on the role of Pinocchio.

Jiminy Cricket is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the character acting as 'Pinocchio's guide as well as his "conscience"'.

Cynthia Erivo stars as The Blue Fairy, 'Honest' is played by Keegan-Michael Key and Luke Evans is taking on the role of The Coachman, while a new character has been created named Sofia the Seagull, who is being played by Lorraine Bracco.

The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis - who has previously worked with Hanks on movies such as Forrest Gump (1994) and Cast Away (2000).

The film's producers are Robert Zemeckis, Derek Hogue, Andrew Miano, Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz.

Meanwhile, Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire and Jeremy Johns are taking on the roles of executive producers.

Fans of the Disney classic have since flooded to the teaser trailer in excitement.

One noted how thoroughly they agreed with the casting choices, specifically that of Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy. "She looks ethereal without being stereotypical or a carbon copy of the original. Can't wait to see her take as Elphaba in the "Wicked" movies!" they said.

"If Tom Hanks doesn't yell "YOU ARE A TOY!!!!" to Pinocchio, I'd be so dissapointed," another added.

A third noted: "Tom Hanks + Robert Zemeckis + Alan Silvestri = The Dream Team coming back for Disney. Can't lie I'm exited."

Others expressed a hesitance with how frequently live-action remakes are being produced.

Although many argued that despite this, Pinocchio looks like it's set to be one of the better ones.

"This looks really cool!! I'm not a fan of barely any of the live actions made so far but this one genuinely looks like one I'll like!" one said.

Pinocchio is currently set to premiere exclusively on Disney Plus on Thursday, 8 September, 2022.
