Stranger Things Fans Share Theory Which Explains How Eddie Could Return And Defeat Vecna

Stranger Things fans have come up with a theory to show how Eddie Munson could potentially come back in season five. 

Metalhead Eddie (played by Joseph Quin) only arrived in the show this season but he quickly became a firm favourite with viewers - thanks, in part, to his sweet friendship with Dustin Henderson (played by Gaten Matarazzo). 

So, naturally, fans were left heartbroken when Eddie died a hero’s death after being attacked by a group of Demobats in the Upside Down - sacrificing himself to save his friends. 

However, people are now suggesting theories that could give Eddie a chance to return to Hawkins in season five. 

TikTok user @jadenbricker shared one such theory that centres on slasher villain Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise. 

Jaden notes that there are several references to Halloween in season four and points out that Michael Myers managed to cheat death and was resurrected several times. 

Jaden explains that during one scene Eddie dons a Michael Myers mask, and later dies - similarly, Max (played by Sadie Sink) also wears the mask and later dies, but she is brought back from the dead by Eleven. 

Could this mean that Eddie will follow suit and also come back to life?

Posting the clip, Jaden shared a quote from Stranger Things’ creators the Duffer Brothers, who said: “Everything on screen happens for a reason.”

And that isn’t the only theory gaining popularity online - another suggests that Eddie could come back as a vampire character from the game Dungeons & Dragons, which features heavily in the show. 

TikToker @kxteswrld explained: "Vecna will use the Demobats to resurrect Eddie Munson, making him the vampire like in the game DnD.”

While some fans are hopeful that one such theory does end up panning others have urged fans to stop being ‘in denial’ about poor Eddie’s fate. 

Nonetheless, a petition to bring the character back in season five has pulled in almost 30,000 signatures.

The change.org petition - titled Bring Eddie Munson Back - accuses the show’s creators of ‘unfairly killing’ off Eddie and says he ‘deserves to be brought back and not just as a flashback’.

And it seems thousands of people are agreement - one signee wrote: "His death didn't seem to have any meaning beyond shock value and it sucks to have such a good character thrown away like that. I want more backstory on Eddie and I need his name to be cleared."

While a second added: "His death was probably the worst thing this show has ever done. The fact the Duffers are so adamant to keep him dead is annoying and an awful choice to be honest."
