Ryan Reynolds' Super Bowl Cameo Was So Subtle You Probably Missed It

Ryan Reynolds' cameo in one of the Super Bowl's commercials nearly went unnoticed by viewers, despite being a testament to his acting 'range'.

On Sunday, February 13, the Los Angeles Rams took on the Cincinnati Bengals at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, taking home a victory of 23-20.

While an impressive game, a series of celebrities couldn't help but steal some of the athletes' thunder, from Eminem's performance during the halftime show, JLo and Ben Affleck being caught boogying in the background and none other than Ryan Reynolds starring in a McDonald's commercial, although in a surprisingly subtle way.

Check it out:

Reynolds may not have made a physical appearance in the advert, but he did voice the character of Grimace, The Independent reports.

The commercial shows Grimace stuck on what to order at the fast food chain, alongside other celebrities including the world's most popular FIFA streamer, Edwin Castro, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, and none other than rapper Kanye West, all umming and ahing over the menu.

As a result of not saying any actual words in the commercial, Reynolds could have easily gone completely unnoticed in his role.

However, making sure this didn't happen, taking to his gin brand Aviation's Twitter account, the Deadpool star joked: 'Uhhh... the voice of Grimace sounds oddly familiar. Did McDonald's hire a certain Canadian drink-slinging McRiblet?'

Posting on his personal account, Reynolds responded to the tweet: 'Yes. Confirmed. It's called range.'

McDonald's also took to the thread to ask Reynolds: 'Where do you keep your grimace suit?'

The actor has previously spoken out in support of Grimace when he took to Instagram to call for the return of the iconic character while promoting Aviation with a cocktail named after the McRib sandwich.

Despite the star's surprise appearance in the ad, not everyone was left convinced by the commercial. One said: 'That ad was uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhful.'

Another wrote: 'Grimace is back in town my friend!'

A third commented: 'Wack bro, this is not an announcement, it was just a normal commercial with Kanye.'

Alongside his voiceover role, Reynolds did make an actual appearance during the halftime commercials in a trailer for his upcoming film The Adam Project.

The science fiction film directed by Shawn Levy sees Reynolds star as time-travelling pilot Adam, who is attempting to come to terms with his past while enlisting the help of his younger self and recently passed away father to save the future.

The Adam Project is set to hit cinemas on March 11.
