Robert De Niro seen out for the first time since announcing he's welcomed his seventh child

Robert De Niro broke the surprise news that he has had a seventh child in an interview for his new film About My Father

Robert De Niro has been spotted out and about for the first time since announcing that he has become a father again for the seventh time.

De Niro was seen at the premiere for his new movie, giving interviewers the chance to quiz him further on the revelation.

The 79-year-old actor broke the news in an interview with ET Canada after correcting the interviewer on how many kids he has.

The star shares his oldest children with his ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, a son called Raphael and an adopted daughter called Drena.

De Niro also has two sons called Julian and Aaron that he shares with another ex, Toukie Smith, and son Elliot and daughter Helen with his ex-wife Grace Hightower.

Now, his family has grown once again, as he revealed in an interview for his forthcoming movie, which is aptly titled About My Father.

The Taxi Driver star was talking about ‘being loving’ to his kids, although admitted he sometimes ‘had to be stern about stuff’ when he said: "I mean, there’s no way around it with kids.

“I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that.

“But you just have no choice.

"And any parent, I think, would say the same thing.

“You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t."

Then, when the interviewer mentioned his six children, he corrected: “Seven actually.

“I just had a baby.”

He didn’t reveal the mother of the child, but said that the baby was ‘planned’ in another interview with Page Six at the premiere of About My Father, asking the red carpet interviewer: “How you could not plan that kind of thing?”

To Extra, he said: “I'm ok with it.

“I'm good with it.”

De Niro joked that it 'never gets easier' with babies.

Asked whether it ever gets any easier, even for a man of his experience, he said: “Never gets easier.”

His co-stars Sebastian Maniscalco and Kim Catrall were clearly pleased for him, too.

“I was informed today that he had the baby I didn't know leading up to this that he was going to have a baby but yeah God bless him,” Maniscalco said.

“He's a very soft-spoken individual loves to spend time with his family and I'm happy for him.”

Catrall added: “God bless him, his significant other Tiffany [Chen] is such a beautiful woman.

“She came to the set once with her family and watched filming, and she was gorgeous and sweet. I'm happy for both of them.”

Chen, a martial arts instructor, was also spotted out and about yesterday (9 May), taking a break to do some shopping.
