Netflix confirms release date for Outer Banks season 3

The new season of Outer Banks is coming next month

Pogues, get ready because Netflix has finally confirmed the release date for Outer Banks season three.

The streaming service’s official Twitter account confirmed the show’s return in a tweet alongside four brand new images.

The Fab Five are back together, with John B (Chase Stokes), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Kiara (Madison Bailey) back in action.

Season two newcomer Carlacia Grant - who plays Cleo - can also be seen crouched down with the others surrounded by grass.

Fans will have to wait until next month to find out what - or who - the teens are hiding from, but we're willing to bet it has something to do with Sarah's terrifying dad, Ward Cameron (Charles Esten).

The series returns on 23 February.

If you cast your mind back to summer 2021 when season two dropped, Ward was hellbent on getting revenge on John B after Sarah sided with the Pogues.

In the intense season two finale, Sarah and Ward went head-to-head as he tried to protect Sarah’s older brother Rafe (Drew Starkey) from facing the consequences of his actions.

Rafe's anger issues and drug use spiralled out of control and he has so far managed to avoid being caught, arrested or charged for murdering Sheriff Peterkin (Adina Porter), with Ward orchestrating events to make it appear John B was responsible.

With Sarah now fully aligned with the Pogues, the group manage to escape Ward and Rafe by landing on a deserted island which they call Poguelandia.

Kiara is all dressed up in the season three first look.

In one of the first look images for the upcoming season, which lands on 23 February, daredevil and hothead JJ can be seen climbing a tree with a white flag which has 'Poguelandia' emblazoned on it.

Back in North Carolina, the Sheriff’s department investigates the Pogue’s disappearance and in the final shot, we learn that John B’s long-lost dad, John Routledge (aka Big John) - who we all thought was dead - is actually alive.

Thankfully, we don't have long to wait until we're back in North Carolina.

For the people who want to catch up before the new season drops, the show is set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and follows a group of teens as they investigate what happened to their friend John B's missing father and the legendary treasure he found.

Watch season three of the hit teen drama from 23 February.
