The NCISverse took to Facebook on Monday to reflect how 'deeply saddened' it was to hear of McCallum's passing.

The post reads: "We are [...] privileged that CBS was his home for so many years. David was a gifted actor and author, and beloved by many around the world.

"He led an incredible life, and his legacy will forever live on through his family and the countless hours on film and television that will never go away.

"We will miss his warmth and endearing sense of humor that lit up any room or soundstage he stepped onto, as well as the brilliant stories he often shared from a life well-lived. Our hearts go out to his wife Katherine and his entire family, and all those who knew and loved David."

McCallum's NCIS co-star Perette - who played the role of Abby Sciuto - also took to social media to remember the star, uploading several images of the pair from across the 15 seasons they spent on the show together.

The Instagram caption reads: Oh David. What a life. What a legend. What a journey. And your legacy Will always be The love you have for your family. Love to Katherine and the kids and the grandkids, your absolutely very favorite things.

"Swipe to see us through the years pretty much in order starting with my favorite pic of me, David and @sashaalexander. And ending with a message from me and David to you all #DavidMcCallum."

The final image shows the duo stood next to one another holding a sign which reads: "Thank you for all your wonderful messages. Love you all!!"

Other colleagues, friends and NCIS fans paid tribute to McCallum as well.

Executive producer Peter Oxley posted on X - formerly known as Twitter: "Sad news on hearing David McCallum died on Monday only a few days after his 90th birthday.

"David appeared in many films including Hell Drivers, Kidnapped and The Great Escape and starred in hit series The Man From UNCLE, The Invisible Man, Colditz, Sapphire & Steel and NCIS. #RIP."

SAG-AFTRA stated: "We celebrate the life and long career of David McCallum. Last week, the actor, author & musician turned 90 years old. Today, we reflect on his contributions to our industry. Our condolences to his wife, children & grandchildren. #sagaftramember since 1961."

And a final user resolved: "David McCallum made every moment count, in life and on set. Let’s raise a jug and celebrate a funny fantastic authentic man. I’ve only got three autographs. Connery, Tony Bennett and McCallum. I felt the same way as Steve McQueen in this picture from The Great Escape: Wow! It’s David McCallum! No one did it better. We were lucky to have him bring us Ducky. Let’s send all the love in the world to his beautiful family. Rest In Peace David."
