Margot Robbie has revealed she's taking a break from acting after her hugely successful lead role in Barbie.

The Australian actor starred in arguably the biggest movie of 2023, one that made a lot of dollar too.

Barbie has made a whopping $1.45 billion worldwide as of 10 January, 2024 - as it instantly became the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman.

But Margot is planning a break from acting while on a high, as she revealed all on the Awards Line issue of Deadline.

Margot told the publication that she wants to take a break from acting as she thinks everyone is 'sick' of seeing her following her Barbie role.

"I also think everyone's probably sick of the sight of me for now. I should probably disappear from screens for a while," she told the outlet.

"'Honestly, if I did another movie too soon, people would say, 'Her again? We just did a whole summer with her. We're over it'."

Margot added: "I don't know what I'll do next, but I hope it's a little while away."

The break doesn't mean Margot is completely disappearing from the world of film though, with the Aussie saying she's been busy working behind the screen with producing.

In fact, the steps Margot is taking now is with the aim of directing a movie one day.

She said: "I really do want to direct. 'I've felt like I wanted to direct for about the last seven years. But I've always seen it as a privilege, not a right."

With Margot taking a break from the screen, it also means the foot fetish memes will stop for a while.

The Aussie actor's feet first became a mainstream topic of conversation after she starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019.

Speaking to CinemaBlend last year, Margot explained that she stumbled upon the internet's foot fetish after she Googled herself when she was first starting out in Hollywood.

“The very first time I Googled myself, you know how when you type something into Google and it predicts what the rest of it is going to be?" she explained.

“I’d started working and I was on some things and I hadn’t Googled myself before, and so I wrote in ‘Margot Robbie’ and before I finished writing ‘Robbie', ‘Margot Robbie feet’ came up.”

She continued: “I clicked on it and realized that there were pictures zoomed in on my feet and people were writing about them and someone had made a video compilation of footage of my feet and I was like, ‘oh wow, this is like a thing. I didn’t realise.'"
