Jamie Lee Curtis reunites with Lindsay Lohan 20 years after Freaky Friday sparking sequel rumors

Freaky Friday stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan have reunited 20 years on and it's freaking people out.

It may not be Friday, but things are sure getting freaky. Freaky in the way that you're going to see this picture of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, realise their 2003 film came out a whopping 20 years ago, and freak out because 2003 was only last year, right? Wow, I feel old.

But hang on, let's all try and calm down, because while Freaky Friday did come out a scarily long time ago now, could Curtis and Lohan reuniting mean a highly-anticipated sequel may be coming?

Curtis and Lohan starred alongside each other as mother and daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman in the hit flick.

In a hilarious turn of events - on one particular Friday - the movie sees the pair switch bodies after they have a heated argument and subsequently take on - and get a deeper insight into - each another's lives.

Freaky Friday was a hit at the box office and has an impressive Tomatoemeter score of 88 percent - it's an easy watch and go-to favourite for a reason.

Will the mother-daughter duo return to our screens?

In a post to her Instagram page yesterday (11 November), Curtis uploaded a selfie of herself and Lohan next to one another beaming at the camera.

The caption reads: "Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY!

"Well, it's Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future! @lindsaylohan @disney."

Curtis shared a picture of her and Lohan on Instagram.

Curtis later uploaded the same image of the pair, this time alongside a picture of them from 2003 while filming Freaky Friday.

"I love when the internet makes me look back in wonder and delight! @lindsaylohan @disney," the actor writes.

And social media users are in a similar state of delight, wondering whether or not the pair's reunion could signal an upcoming sequel.

Fans of the movie flooded to the posts to beg for another Freaky film.

One Instagram user wrote: "PLEASE WE NEED THIS."

"Yesss please please !!!!!!! We need more Freaky Friday," another added.

A third commented: "Freaky Friday Two!!!!! Pleaseeeee."

And a fourth resolved: "@disney EVERYONE wants this!!!! Make it happen!"

Both actors have said they'd be down for a sequel.

And with the Hollywood Reporter having reported in May earlier this year a sequel is in the works, it seems like fan's calls have been answered.

In an interview with the New York Times, Curtis even said: "As I went around the world with Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there was going to be another Freaky Friday.

"Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, 'It feels like there’s a movie to be made'."

Lohan added: "Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be.

"We would only make something that people would absolutely adore."
