People debate who should play Elon Musk after A24 announces biopic from The Whale director

Many film fanatics are flocking online to discuss who should play Elon Musk in his upcoming biopic.

Elon Musk is never far away from the headlines is he? The billionaire has become known these days for making people talk.

Whether that be all he changes he has made to Twitter (I mean X) since he took charge, or the recent conversation he had with the UK prime minister Rishi Sunak surrounding the advancements in AI.

While it seems there are very much more chapters to come in Musk's story, a biopic surrounding the man himself is apparently in the works.

Puck reports that the new biopic film will be based on Walter Isaacson's recent biography on the X owner, with The Whale director Darren Aronofsky supposedly taking charge.

The biopic is reportedly made by A24, however, there has been no word on who will be a part of the rest of the movie's creative team.

As a result, many have speculated as to what writers may be involved and the potential cast of this brand new movie.

In particular, many remain intrigued as to who they think may play Musk, and what type of actor would be suitable to playing the divisive figure.

Funnily enough, the discussion has taken centre stage on Musk's own platform, X, thanks to Tweets posted by DiscussingFilm and Variety.

The former took to the social media platform and simply asked: "Who should play Elon Musk in A24 and Darren Aronofsky’s biopic?"

Pointing to the apparent appearance similarities between the pair, one film guru penned: "Kevin Durand."

Another X noted the Peaky Blinders and Oppenheimer actor Cillian Murphy would be a good shout, though others certainly disagreed.

"He's too charismatic good looking and very skinny, also the eyes aren't soulless like Elon," one person remarked.

While another pointed out: "Looks nothing like him."

Variety tweeted asking readers who should play Musk in the biopic from a choice of Nicolas Cage, Rami Malek and Kathy Bates.

The outlet compiled a list of commenters’ top-voted casting picks from a recent Reddit thread discussing the A24 production.

Some of the most popular names for the role on the social media site included Cage, Malek, Robert Downey Jr. and Jesse Eisenberg.

Meanwhile, the likes of Matt LeBlanc, John Barrowman, Kevin Durand and Matthew Broderick were listed as some potential outsiders.

And thanks to Aronofsky's involvement with the project, Brendan Fraser name was also mentioned. Though, that certainly seems like an unlikely one.
