Courteney Cox has posted an emotional tribute to her Friends co-star Matthew Perry who died last month.

Perry died on 28 October at the age of 54 after being found in a hot tub in his Los Angeles home.

The actor achieved global fame with his role of Chandler Bing in Friends, endearing himself to millions with his sarcastic jokes and witty quips.

Perry became a huge part of pop culture from the 1990s onwards, with the sitcom's enduring popularity showing no sign of stopping almost three decades on from when it originally aired.

He'd been very open about his struggle with addiction to alcohol and opioids, most prominently in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which released last year.

The difficulties he faced led to multiple stints in rehab and serious health issues. While promoting his book, Perry did a series of interviews where he bravely opened up about his struggles, becoming emotional at times as he went into candid detail.

Police confirmed there was no evidence of drugs at the scene where he passed away.

Since his tragic death, many of Perry's former co-stars have paid their tributes, including the cast of Friends.

In a joint statement, they wrote: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.

"There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

"In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Now, Cox - who played Monica in Friends - has taken to social media to pay her own individual respects.

On Instagram, she wrote: "I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day.

"When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites.

"To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story.

"In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind."

The tribute comes just hours after Matt LeBlanc took to Instagram to remember Perry.

Alongside a bunch of images, the actor penned: "Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life.

"It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never.

"Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love."
