Struggling to know what to watch on Netflix this weekend? Well, you may want to try this 'emotional' Robert Downey Jr. film that a lot of people missed.

It can be pretty difficult to know what to watch on the streamer when you have seemingly watched everything.

Of course, you can't go wrong with the classics, but even they can get tiresome, right?

So, if you are looking for something new, or in some people's cases, a revisit, then look no further than The Judge.

The 2014 movie stars the likes of Downey Jr., Leighton Meester, Robert Duvall and Sarah Lancaster.

An official synopsis for the flick reads: "Hank Palmer (Robert Downey Jr.), a brilliant but shady attorney, returns to his Indiana hometown after learning that his mother has passed away.

"His arrival triggers renewed tension between himself and his father, Judge Joseph Palmer (Robert Duvall), who makes no secret of his disapproval of Hank's morally ambiguous career.

"As the lawyer prepares to depart, his father is arrested for a hit-and-run death. Hank takes on his father's defense, despite the objections of the resentful old man."

Despite being ten years old, The Judge became the top streaming movie in the US on Friday (3 May) thanks to its recent release on Netflix.

The Judge had been in the development phase in the early 2010s before filming commenced in 2013.

It was released just a year later, but things could have been so different.

According to IMDB, actors Jack Nicholson and Tommy Lee Jones were considered for the role of main character Joseph Palmer.

However, it eventually went to Duvall.

Since its release on Netflix recently, many viewers have flocked to social media to discuss The Judge.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one person wrote: "How did I miss out on watching the movie The Judge starring Robert Downey Jr & Robert Duvall?

"Regardless of their strained father & son relationship, family is everything & this movie proves it. A must watch on Netflix."

A second added: "Robert Downey jr and Robert Duvall so good together. Love this movie," while a third remarked: "I watched The Judge and now I am juggling very complicated feelings. The least complicated being I know Robert Downey Jr. can play something different and I am slightly tired of him playing the same character."

Meanwhile, a fellow X user dubbed it as 'emotional'.

The Judge is available to stream on Netflix now.
