Warning: spoilers ahead

Viewers have shared how they binge-watched a new hit Netflix series in one sitting.

Sometimes, a series is so engrossing that you can't help but stick around for the next episode.

Of course things aren't helped by that little countdown starting before you have the chance to hit pause, but if it's a great show then what's the harm?

The series follows the pair's burgeoning relationship.

And it seems that's just what happened for many viewers of new Netflix show One Day.

The show - starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall - follows two people who meet on their graduation day of university, Em and Dex.

After their graduation day encounter, the show follows how each of them get on over the subsequent years, in one hell of a will they-won't they.

Fair warning, there will be major spoilers from this point on, you have been warned...

Needless to say, as is often the case the pair do indeed 'will', and get together.

But things go horribly wrong when Em is suddenly killed in a car accident.

Her death happens as she is cycling to view a house they wanted to buy together, in a further heartbreaking twist.

In the end, we follow Dex as he comes to terms with the loss of Em, turning to substance abuse in his grief.

So, not exactly a happy ending then.

But despite the emotional gut punch, viewers have found themselves unable to look away and binged the entire series in one sitting.

Given that it has it has fourteen episodes with a runtime between 19 and 39 minutes, that's a pretty hefty amount of television.

If you were wondering, it comes to a whopping 400 minutes of viewing, or six hours and 40 minutes.

The ending had people in tears.

That sounds doable, if you're determined enough and have a comfy enough sofa.

The show has earned an impressive 91 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside an 86 percent audience rating, as people take to social media to share their thoughts.

One person wrote on the Facebook group Netflix Bangers: "This was a great series. I binge-watched it in one day!"

Another was also very impressed, writing: "Also just binge watched it and sobbed the whole way through the last episode."

A third felt that it was compulsory to watch the series all in one go.

They wrote: "Loved it! Had to watch all in one sitting. Love story with not a bit of cheese in sight."

And fourth added: "It was good enjoyed it watched in one day."

One Day is available to stream on Netflix now.
