Netflix viewers are flooding to social media in awe of a new thriller which is 'every bit as major as Fight Club'.

If you've already whizzed through 18-part telenovela Pact of Silence and needed another nail-biter to add to your list, then fear not, because Netflix has done it again.

Prepare for the ultimate distraction from your hangover:

The thriller isn't only directed by the legendary David Fincher - think Gone Girl, The Zodiac and Fight Club - but stars none other than Michael Fassbender (The Light Between Oceans), Tilda Swinton (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) and Arliss Howard (The Lost World: Jurassic Park).

The official Netflix synopsis reads: "After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal."

The trailer for the movie sees Fassbender - who takes on the role of the titular character - narrate: "If I’m effective, it’s because of one simple fact. I. Don’t. Give. A. F**k."

And if that wasn't enough to make the hairs stand up on the back of your arms, then how about some reviews from people who've already sped to the streaming service to watch it?

Michael Fassbender stars in the titular role.

The film, titled The Killer, may've only been released onto Netflix two days ago (10 November) but it's already seen an influx of support online, some even deeming it Oscar-worthy. Warning: May contain spoilers.

Taking to X, one viewer wrote: "Watching. Meditating. Waiting for the prey, for the target, for the job. The opening, this whole part of the film where we are introduced to the titular killer and how he works is fantastic. Captivating, hypnotic, rich with atmosphere. #TheKiller #DavidFincher #MichaelFassbender."

"To my surprise, #TheKiller is one of the best movies I’ve seen all year. Such an incredibly unique approach to storytelling with little dialogue and more ambient narration. Almost no supporting cast, it’s 95 percent Fassbender and he’s 200 percent awesome. This movie deserves some Oscar love," another added.

The Killer is proving to be an absolute hit with viewers.

A third commented: "Tilda Swinton has only a few minutes in The Killer and gave one of my favorite film performances of the year. What a legend."

And a fourth said: "One of the best gags Fincher ever pulled is for THE KILLER to open with a propulsive algorithm-friendly credits sequence that promises fast thrills, only for him to start with a 20-minute sequence of a sad hitman sitting in a room talking to himself and eating McDonalds."
