Alex Lawther once starred in a top-rated Netflix series that fans say they would 'sell their soul' to watch again for the first time.

The British actor has racked up some impressive TV credits, including Black Mirror's unnerving 'Shut Up and Dance' episode and Disney's Star Wars prequel, Andor.

His latest role is alongside Sydney Chandler in the Alien spin-off series, Alien: Earth. Lawther plays CJ Hermit, a soldier, medic and brother to Wendy (Chandler) - the first synthetic adult body housing a terminally ill child’s consciousness.

The series, which is a prequel to the 1979 Ridley Scott classic, premiered on Tuesday (August 12) in the US on FX and Hulu and internationally via Star on Disney+ on Wednesday (August 13).

Fans of the actor, then, should add another 'brilliant' series to their watch lists - and this one has a 96 per cent rating.

The show has been streamed for 44.3 million hours, as per FlixPatrol figures. And that's just between January 2023 and June 2025; the true viewing figures will be larger, considering the show joined Netflix in 2018.

The British drama debuted on Channel 4 in the UK in October 2017 before being added to the streamer's global catalogue at the start of 2018, while season two followed in 2019.

From Kaos creator Charlie Covell, the dark comedy follows seventeen-year-old James (Lawther), who is convinced he’s a psychopath.

Bored with killing animals, he decides it’s time to move on to a human, and classmate Alyssa (Dune: Prophecy's Jessica Barden) seems like the perfect target.

Disillusioned with her chaotic home life, she suggests they run away together, hoping for freedom and adventure.

What starts as James’ plan to murder her quickly spirals into a chaotic road trip involving stolen cars, police dodging and a growing bond neither expected.

Along the way, the duo is haunted by their pasts and forced to confront who they are.

The show in question is The End of the F****** World, which scored 94 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes across both seasons.

Its first season was awarded a near-perfect 96 per cent by critics, who said: "Misanthropy and humor pair perfectly in this romantically nihilistic show that proves that falling in love can feel like The End of the F***ing World."

Fans rated the first series 91 per cent across more than 2,500 reviews, as one said: "Genuinely the best series I've ever seen. I would sell my soul to watch it again for the first time. Perfect."

A second admitted: "Nothing has quite hit the spot since this," as one re-watcher said: "Totally different from anything else. Great acting!"

And a fourth agreed the show was like 'nothing else' on TV at the moment.

The discussion continued over on Reddit, where one social media user lamented how 'perfect' the series was.

"And the cinematography was absolutely brilliant," someone else chipped in. "Those visuals, coupled with the soundtrack was really an awesome treat."

Both seasons of The End of the F****** World are streaming now on Netflix.
