Harrison Ford told the stuntmen on the new Indiana Jones flick that he didn’t want anything to do with them, telling them that he’s an ‘old man’ and ‘wants to look like it’.

Here's the trailer for Indy's last ride:

This is Indy’s last dance, the final time we’ll see Ford wearing the famous hat, and it seems as if the star is keen to have things done properly.

That doesn’t mean that the whole story is going to be based in reality - the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull pretty much put paid to that, if it wasn’t already a long shot - but he still wants to do his own bit to bring his iconic character to life.

Much like Ford himself, who is just into his 80s, the Indiana Jones character is reaching the twilight years of his career, too.

So, Ford wanted the character to look like an older and more tired character, which meant doing a bit more of the work himself.

Speaking to Esquire, he said: “I wanted an ambitious movie to be the last one.

“And I don’t mean that we didn’t make ambitious movies before - they were ambitious in many different ways.

“But not necessarily as ambitious with the character as I wanted the last one to be.”

This is Harrison Ford and Indiana Jones' last outing.

So, when he was finished filming a scene set in 1969 in which he rides a horse through the streets of New York City, he wasn’t happy to feel the stunt performers spotting him as he got down from his steed.

“I thought, ‘What the f***?’ Like I was being attacked by gropers,” he said.

“I look down and there’s three stunt guys there making sure I didn’t fall off the stirrup,”

Ford recounted: “They said, ‘Oh, we were just afraid because we thought, you know, and bah bah bah bah.’

“And I said, ‘Leave me the f*** alone…Leave me alone, I’m an old man getting off a horse and I want it to look like that!”’

What’s more, he brought that idea to the film itself, coming up with an idea in which he was shirtless in the movie, to show the realities of aging.

“Waking up in my underwear with the empty glass in my hand was my idea,” he explained.

Well, that will be a scene and a half.

His age was equally as apparent when he injured his shoulder whilst filming a fight scene with co-star Mads Mikkelsen, which shut everything down for two weeks.

Even once it got going again, Ford himself was sidelined for six more weeks.

“Yeah, well, I’m also known for shutting movies down because I get hurt, which is not something you want to be known for,” he said.

Ford is keen to keep it real, though.

    “But hey, s*** happens.”

Even at 80, Ford isn’t pulling up just yet, currently filming Captain America: New World Order and entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.

On that front, he said: “I mean, there are tough days and easy days and fun days and all kinds of days.

“It’s a tough schedule and, yeah, it’s fun. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun fun. It’s work.”

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny opens in theaters on June 30.
