Bradley Cooper Looks Unrecognisable In New Netflix Role

The actor has truly transformed

Bradley Cooper will be both in front of and behind the camera for a new Netflix-backed movie, and let’s just say he’s got the look nailed.

So much so, that the actor is unrecognisable in first look set photos shared by the streaming platform.

Following his acclaimed directorial debut A Star Is Born, Cooper is now working on Maestro, a biopic about the life of world-renowned musician and composer Leonard Bernstein.

As well as directing the film, the 47-year-old star will be taking on the lead role alongside Carey Mulligan, who’s portraying Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre.

What’s more, Cooper will be playing the composer at various stages in his life, with impressive makeup work making him unrecognisable as an older version of Bernstein.

Netflix shared the snaps on its film Twitter page, where dozens of fans have commented on the actor’s incredible transformation.

“Dang! He even has white arm hairs! Such attention to detail!” wrote one. “Whoever is the makeup/hair person(s) on that film needs to win some major awards.”

“The makeup of him older, damn,” said another, with a third adding, “Gorgeous stills! Looks like he’s truly embodying Bernstein!”

Others were just excited for the movie’s release, but there’s a bit of a wait until then. Cooper previously told Variety that it won’t drop in theatres and/or on Netflix until 2023.

He also revealed that Steven Spielberg was originally meant to direct Maestro, but the actor had his heart set on filmmaking again after A Star is Born.

“I [told Spielberg], ‘I always felt like I could play a conductor, but may I research the material and see if I can write it and direct it? Would you let me do that?’” he said.

“Steven has a lot of interests – he’ll just choose one thing and all of the other things will be on hold. I think he knew he wasn’t going to make that movie for a while. He was kind enough to hand it off to me, and that’s what I’ve been doing for the last four-and-a-half years.”

Elsewhere, Netflix’s head of global films, Scott Stuber, told the outlet last December: “We’ve done a lot of work on the makeup. We’ve done a lot of work on the voice.

“I’m excited to see someone so deeply focused on creating a story that means so much to him. And Carey Mulligan is an incredible actress.”
