It's no surprise that the sequel to the incredible 2018 film is getting great reviews, with early reviews giving it a certified 'Fresh' rating of 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

For those living under a rock, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2018 hit film that broke box office records.

The sequel, once again helmed by Ryan Coogler, sees Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o and Angela Bassett back in action and we couldn't be more excited.

The film's synopsis reads: "The people of Wakanda fight to protect their home from intervening world powers as they mourn the death of King T'Challa."

T'Challa notably was played by the late great Chadwick Boseman, who sadly died of colon cancer in 2020.

Chadwick Boseman's legacy lives on.

Boseman's death was felt the world over and many believe that the new film gives him the send-off he deserves, but fans are calling for a nomination at the 2023 Oscars - with one performance receiving the most attention.

One fan wrote on Twitter: "angela bassett deserves to be the first actor nominated for an oscar for a marvel movie for her work in black panther wakanda forever, my god."

While another fan also praised Bassett's performance, demanding that the American Horror Story star be recognised for her performance: "Wakanda Forever was a 10/10. A touching tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman and a brilliant love letter to the incredible women of color in the MCU. Give Angela Bassett an Oscar nom for her strong as f*** performance."

People are loving the film, especially Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda.

A third also extended that nomination to that the director, writing: "Ryan Coogler deserves an Oscar for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Sequels are really hard to do and especially after your main character actually dies."

Another added that they were blown away by the 'powerful' film, saying: "I saw Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It is truly an emotional and powerful film. The cast had a powerful performance, especially Angela’s Ramonda, which deserves an Oscar. Namor is truly an amazing villain. I'll give a 9. A respectful honor to Chadwick Boseman."

Have you had a chance to catch the incredible new film yet? What is your thought on the sequel?

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released in cinemas everywhere this past Friday 11, November.
