People on social media have been losing their minds as they react to a great story of how a plane passenger who guilt-tripped someone into swapping seats got instant karma.

Dealing with annoying and inconsiderate people every now and then is a given, but sometimes there is a perfect moment that shows you justice works in this world.

And one man's story, that has gone viral on social media, highlighting how he got to have the last laugh.

Chase Cangelosi, from Texas, took to Threads to paint the picture.

He said he was boarding an evening United Airlines flight this week, traveling from Mexico City back home to Austin when he spotted a woman in his window seat.

He explained: “I was boarding a plane and had an F (window) seat. I mention to the woman who was in my seat ‘heyyy I’m seat F,’ and she says ‘I’m more comfortable here.’ I said nothing else and sat in the middle.

“A few minutes later, she discovered her seat TV didn’t work, while everyone else’s did. She asked to switch back and I said 'no, I’m comfortable here'.

“Now I’m watching Bob’s Burgers and she just has to look out the nighttime window.”

People took to the comments to commend Chase for firstly not losing his temper and having the perfect reply after the fortunate turn of events.

One user commented: “She's so daring to ask for a switch again.”

Another simply said: “Love when the universe pays out justice.”

With a third writing: “I’m amazed at all the people who have someone unwilling to move when they are in the wrong seat. I’ve traveled a fair bit over the years and If I or anyone else has been in the wrong seat, it’s been unintentional and is corrected immediately with an apology.”

People also told their own stories of people being inconsiderate on flights (Instagram/chaseatx)

Chase even had a courtesy to follow up his post with an update due to so many people asking for more information.

He commented: “Answering the comments here:

“1. I didn’t care enough to say anything more when she was in my seat (talking on the phone facing the window)

“2. It was only a 50 min flight

“3. I bring headphones but never bring anything else to do on planes under 3 hours

“4. Yes, this is my real story. Today, seat 26F, United flight HOU to AUS, 6:28pm.”

    What a delicious comeuppance.
