People are asking Nick Cannon to stop having kids as the world's population is set to hit 8 billion this week

As the world's population sets to hit 8 billion, people are asking Nick Cannon to stop contributing towards it.

The official global population is set to hit 8 billion people next week and people are asking 'father of the year' Nick Cannon to stop contributing towards it.

Cannon currently has ten children with six different women and has two on the way in the coming months - in what would make Cannon's offspring an 11-a-side football team, plus a sub.

The United Nations confirmed earlier this week that the global population would hit 8 billion people on 15 November and will continue to grow, according to the intergovernmental organisation.

United Nations Population Fund chief Natalia Kanem, said: "Eight billion people, it is a momentous milestone for humanity.

"Yet, I realise this moment might not be celebrated by all. Some express concerns that our world is overpopulated.

"I am here to say clearly that the sheer number of human lives is not a cause for fear."

Back in 1950, the number of humans on Earth was around 2.5 billion, three times less than what is expected for the global headcount next week.

The UN has predicted that the global population will continue to grow to about 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050, and about 10.4 billion in the 2080s where it is expected to peak.

In a tweet posted about the world's population hitting 8 billion by the account UberFacts, one person retweeted it with the caption 'STOPPPPP @NickCannon'.

The tweet has since gone viral on the social media platform, with nearly 250,000 likes at the time of writing.

People on Twitter have been quick to react to the comment, with many having a laugh about it.

One person said: "I am sure everyone will be related to him by 2085," as a second added: "Maybe everyone else should stop and just let Nick Cannon keep going?"

And a third was a bit more worried: "Wasn't it 6 bill some odd years ago? At least in my short lifespan. This can't be good."

Cannon's most recent baby news came from his partner Alyssa Scott earlier this month who confirmed they were having a baby following a maternity photoshoot.

Taking to Instagram, Scott said: "With you by my side" in a post showing off her bump.

The newborn will be Cannon's second child with Scott, with their son Zen S. Cannon sadly dying of brain cancer last December when he was just five months old.

The former America's Got Talent host also has twins with Mariah Carey and three children with model Brittany Bell.

Cannon is expecting another baby in the coming months with DJ Abby De La Rosa - their third child together.

Earlier this year, Cannon welcomed two more to his large offspring with LaNisha Cole and Bre Tiesi, respectively.
