Mother left outraged after neighbor files noise complaint against her toddler

The mom said she doesn't feel bad about the noise her child makes

A family have been left in an awkward situation after their neighbors have complained about them several times.

TikToker Haley Becker resides in an apartment complex and lives with her husband and young daughter, who is just over the age of one.

They have lived in their apartment for four years with no issue but, upon some new neighbors moving in downstairs, they've been hit with 13 noise complaints in three days.

The couple who live below said they've heard a lot of 'noise and footsteps' - failing to take into account that a toddler lives in the apartment.

While this is undeniably inconvenient, Haley argued that it's just part of having a young child and insisted that the noise doesn't occur at all hours of the day.

Initially the couple kept complaining to the Haley and her husband directly, but then proceeded to file several official noise complaints with their building management.

Speaking to the front office herself, Haley explained to them: "We have a toddler.

"Unless I put her in a straight jacket, I cannot control how often she walks around and how she plays. And I’m not going to do that.

"I’m not going to prevent my child from exploring and walking around the apartment and living. It’s just not happening."

She proceeded to tell the person on the other end of the phone that her toddler wakes up at 7am, and is usually in bed for 7-8pm.

"She’s not bouncing off the walls at midnight," Haley further argued.

Despite the person on the phone being understanding, the couple below them still couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that it's difficult to control the noise a toddler makes and proceeded to make a whopping 13 complaints over a period of three days.

But people on TikTok have since empathized with the family's situation.

"Property Manager here... they need to be reminded it's apartment living. Office should offer another unit, if declined, they should terminate," one person penned.

Haley's daughter is only one years old.

"I used to have a neighbor threaten me for flushing the toilet too late… people are insane," added another.

A third continued: "I think it’s time to start keeping a log. Neighbors gone wild is a real thing!"

In updates that Haley has posted to her page in the days that followed, the mom-of-one, who has another baby on the way, shared that things have gotten so bad that they've had to get attorneys involved - but the noise that the couple below have been complaining about has been deemed 'normal'.
