Every gambler hopes to win big on their bets, but one man from Las Vegas really made that dream come true when he turned $40 into an incredible $10.4 million.

It really does sound like a miracle, so it's fitting that the winner in this case was identified as none other than 'Jesus C' - only this Jesus was from Las Vegas.

Instead of spending his time trying to turn water into wine, Jesus decided to head for the first time to Boyd Gaming’s Cannery Casino and Hotel last month, making a change from his usual visits to Orleans and Gold Coast.

The entertainment complex spreads over 28 acres and features 72,000-square-feet of gaming space, restaurants, and other amenities, and it was there that Jesus sat down at a Megabucks slots machine and put in $40 (£31), no doubt with the hope of making some kind of profit - however big.

It's worth noting at this point that IGT’s Megabucks slots game is famous for paying the casino industry’s largest slots jackpots, according to Boyd Gaming.

With its jackpot meter resetting at $10 million (£7.8m) in Nevada, the game has the largest base progressive amount of any slots game in the US.

Obviously, though, that doesn't guarantee a win. But at 5:28am on 7 July, Jesus' machine lined up three Megabucks symbols and caught a jackpot totalling $10,488,726.

The lucky man was handed a check for his winnings in the casino floor, and was understandably over the moon with the outcome of his night gambling.

He was pictured giving a huge thumbs up to the camera as he stood behind his giant check, and shared plans to buy a house for his mom with the winnings.

I don't think anyone would turn their nose down at a cool $10.4 million, though Jesus' win wasn't the largest Megabucks jackpot ever.

That happened in 2003, when one very lucky winner secured a whopping $39 million (£30.7m).

Jesus isn't the only one to make a huge profit on their gambling spends recently, as one player from California managed to turn themselves into a millionaire after gambling just $5 (£3.94) on a Megabucks slot machine at the Aria during a trip to Sin City.

The player joined Jesus in becoming a big winner, though such a result isn't as common as it sounds as OnlineGambling.com reports that just 20 multi-millionaires have been made since the Megabucks slot machine was first introduced back in 2005.
