Ex-Domino's delivery driver complains customer once gave her 13-cent tip

A former Domino's delivery driver has sparked a tipping debate after reminiscing about the time she was tipped just 13 cents.

The social media user, who is based in the US and no longer works for the pizza chain, took to TikTok to share a throwback video of herself after dropping off a customer’s order.

Sitting in her car, social media user Laina Rose (@lainarose9) told the camera: “I just took a delivery that was $21 and 37 cents. They gave me $21 and 51 cents - f**k yeah! 13-cent tip!”

Laina captioned her video - which has so far been viewed 18,000 times - “Oh, how I don’t miss those days.”

Check out Laina’s video below:

Many of Laina’s followers rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts, and they didn’t hold back.

One person wrote: “I know the pain,” while a second commented: “I had a guy who’s total came to $19.99. He handed me a $20 and said keep the change. I almost went feral.”

Another added: “I hated when they said keep the change on a 1 penny tip. I always threw it in their driveway.”

“Wtf? 13 cents? I tip at minimum $5. Delivery is not an easy job,” a fourth TikToker commented beneath Laina’s clip.

However, not everyone was on Laina’s side, with one person saying: “Almost like tips are optional or something.”

Someone else wrote: “Tip isn't mandatory. I worked for Pizza Hut,” while another social media user echoed: “Sorry not sorry, but I don’t tip - you’re already getting paid min wage. Where I’m at it’s 15 an hour, if anything I’ll tip the cooks who made the food.”

Well, this isn't the first time tipping etiquette has sparked debate as last year, footage of another Domino's employee went viral after they appeared to have a meltdown in their place of work because of a customer not tipping.

After being told to ‘calm down’, the upset employee could be heard shouting: “I don’t want to work here anymore! Five minutes! Five minutes out there in the rain, and no tip? No tip?” before lashing out at a stack of pizza boxes.

Over summer, footage of another Domino's employee went viral after they appeared to have a meltdown over a tip.

While some people could understand why the man was so upset, leaving comments like: “If you can’t tip then don’t order out. Literally in a pandemic lmao” and “To the people who are complaining about leaving a tip… You simply shouldn’t eat out or maybe go pick it up yourself. Drivers rely on tips!”, not everyone was on the dude’s side.

Other comments included: “Lol. ‘I don’t want to work here anymore’, aight then leave. You already know zero tip is a possibility so why act surprised when it happens” and: “I avoid places where they expect a tip. It’s awkward and I’m paying for a service or product already.”

UNILAD has approached Domino’s for comment.
