Reason why Paul Rudd doesn’t appear to age is actually quite simple

The Ant-Man star has found the key to staying young

How does Paul Rudd never age? It's a question asked by all fans of the actor, and probably also a few non-fans who are just jealous of him.

From some of his earlier projects like Clueless and Wet Hot American Summer, to more recent titles like Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the actor seemingly just refuses to show the years on his face.

I'm sure a lot of people would like to argue that it's all down to the makeup and editing that film stars are so often subject to, but it goes far beyond that with Rudd. He is just perpetually ageless.

See what he looked like when he was 'younger' below:

It's easy to imagine Rudd with the exact same face as a five-year-old as he has now – it's just hard to pin him to any specific decade other than, simply, adult.

It's a trait many people would kill for, but there is some explanation for Rudd's unwavering looks – and as much as you might wish otherwise it's actually not magic, witchcraft or some bizarre scientific experiment.

The answer is actually simple – he just takes care of his skin and leads a healthy life.

The actor has spoken out previously about how he is conscious of possible dangerous side-effects of spending too long in the sun, telling InStyle: "I'm not one for tanning. I used to be, back when I was rocking the Depeche Mode look. Honestly, I wear sunscreen not to prevent wrinkles but because I don't want to get skin cancer.”

Preventing cancer should definitely be the number one reason to use sun cream, but the protective lotion has also been found to have an effect on ageing.

A statement from Arianne Shadi Kourosh, for the American Academy of Dermatology Association, explains: “Ultraviolet radiation from the sun and indoor tanning beds not only can increase your risk of skin cancer but also can contribute to skin ageing.”

As well as getting caught up in too much sun, Rudd has also described changing his 'whole life' when he was cast as Ant-Man, telling AARP: “I started training and eating like an athlete: no sugar, no alcohol, just proteins and vegetables. I really loved it. It was a complete change of life that took me by surprise. I did not think living such a healthy lifestyle would be as fulfilling.”

Rudd has further alluded to his skincare routine during a reunion with the cast of Clueless at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo in 2019, when he claimed that despite refusing to age on the outside, he was actually '80 years old on the inside'.

He continued: "In here, pure darkness – and a little moisturiser.”

Now 53 years old, Rudd was obviously joking about being a pensioner on the inside, but it's his skincare and lifestyle that prevents him from ever looking like one on the outside, too.
