Whoopi Goldberg has apologized for her Holocaust remarks after facing severe backlash.

The Color Purple actor has said she's sorry for a second time after claiming the Holocaust wasn’t ‘originally about race’.

The comments originally saw her get suspended from The View for two weeks earlier this year and they surfaced again recently, which sparked calls for her to be booted from the TV show.

During a recent interview with The Sunday Times, the talk-show host tried to explain her controversial remarks.

At the time, Goldberg told the outlet: “Remember who they were killing first. They were not killing racial; they were killing physical. They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision.”

But when the reporter chimed in to inform the actor that Nazis would measure the nose of Jews to prove that Hitler’s war was based on ‘race’, Goldberg hit back.

She said: “They did that to Black people too.

"But it doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street.

“You could find me. You couldn’t find them.

"That was the point I was making. But you would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked.”

Recently while speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the comedian said she regretted the interview while insisting she wasn’t ‘doubling down’ on her past comments.

She said in a statement provided to the outlet: “Recently while doing press in London, I was asked about my comments from earlier this year.

"I tried to convey to the reporter what I had said and why, and attempted to recount that time.

"It was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments, especially after talking with and hearing people like rabbis and old and new friends weighing in.

“I'm still learning a lot and believe me, I heard everything everyone said to me."

Goldberg added that she would forever stand with the Jewish community, especially after a year that has seen them vilified by people like Kanye West.

She says she absolutely believes the Holocaust 'was about race' and is sorry she 'upset, hurt and angered people'.

"My sincere apologies again, especially to everyone who thought this was a fresh rehash of the subject. I promise it was not," she added.
