Paul Walker's brother shares emotional way their family pay respects on his birthday

Paul would have been turning 50 next week

Paul Walker's brother has shared the emotional way their family pay respects on the late star's birthday.

The Fast and Furious star would have been celebrating his 50th birthday next week (12 September).

Walker died in November 2013 following a tragic car crash alongside Roger Rodas, who was driving his red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.

They crashed into a concrete lamp post and two trees after traveling between 80 and 93 mph, with the Porsche catching fire.

Now, nearly a decade on, his youngest brother Cody, 35, spoke to MailOnline ahead of co-hosting FuelFest in New Jersey this weekend.

Cody was 25 when his big brother died and said it’s ‘hard to believe’ it's nearly been 10 years since the fatal crash.

Cody revealed that each year, on Walker’s birthday, the family take photos of the sunset and sunrise.

“His 50th will be Tuesday. Miss him everyday. Hard to believe actually. Ten years. Wow,” he said.

Getting emotional talking about his late brother, he was comforted by Walker’s friend and co-star, Tyrese Gibson.

Cody added: “He has played such a big role in my life. He's 15 years older than I was. My parents separated when I was in middle school, so just a huge influence on my life.

“You know, I got to travel a lot with him, he'd take me away.

“My mom, would say, 'He's got to come back for school', and he would just say, 'Oh, he's learning everything he needs to learn with me'.

“He meant a lot of a lot of things to a lot of people. And we miss him a lot.”

In the 2018 documentary exploring the legacy of the actor, I Am Paul Walker, Cody recalled the last phone call the pair shared - just moments before the fatal crash.

“He actually called me on his way to that toy drive," Cody began.

“I was at work that day and I'm so glad I wasn't on a call and I was able to answer the phone."

Speaking of their decision to go and take the Porsche for a spin, the younger brother said: “It is just so stupid, I've been on that same exact loop - it's an industrial park, there is nothing there on the weekend - no cars, there's just nothing there."

In this recent interview, Cody also spoke about his relationship with Walker's daughter, Meadow, following rumors she’s become estranged from the family.

He said: “She's doing her own thing. She's pursuing that career. She's finding her success. Very proud of her right now."
