After being accused of making a bizarre ‘homophobic’ comment about a children’s movie, Snoop Dogg has used the criticism he's faced as a learning moment.

Before we get into what the rapper has done, we need to divulge what he said back in August to receive heat from the LGBTQ+ community.

While appearing as a guest on the It's Giving podcast, the 53-year-old - who is due to celebrate his 54th birthday on Monday (October 20) - claimed he was 'scared to go to the movies' after he recalled his grandson asking questions about a relationship in Lightyear - the Toy Story spin-off that was released in 2022.

He said: "They're putting it everywhere [...] They're like, 'she had a baby - with another woman'. Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, 'Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She's a woman!'.

"I didn't come in for this s***. I just came to watch the goddamn movie."

Before adding: "Y'all throwing me in the middle of sh*t that I don't have an answer for."

After it aired, the 'Young, Wild & Free' hitmaker was accused of being homophobic and faced a tidal wave of criticism.

Now, the hip-hop icon has confirmed he's working on a new kids' track titled 'Love Is Love'.

Snoop has collaborated with GLAAD [Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation] to champion LGBTQ+ representation for its annual Spirit Day, following the backlash he faced over remarks about two women kissing in Lightyear.

In a discussion shared to his YouTube channel yesterday, the 'Drop It Like It’s Hot' rapper sat down with Jeremy Beloate - an openly queer artist and former contestant on The Voice who recently signed to Snoop’s Death Row Records.

“It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks [of life], and be able to be shown love, and be able to be taught what love is,” the Californian explained, speaking about his new campaign.

He went on to note how 'hate is taught and so is love', before stressing the importance of celebrating love, 'whether it’s two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key'.

Snoop continued: “I think these kids are being loved by these great parents [who] are showing them an example of what family is. So, I wanna give a shoutout to all of the parents out there for doing such a great job with these kids.”

The rapper, who has seven grandkids, said he wants to use his platform to make a difference.

"I have the opportunity to teach these kids through my music," he added.
