People are flooding to social media in debate over Oprah Winfrey's reaction to a fan who suggested $100 is too big a budget for a Christmas present.

If you're worth billions like Oprah Winfrey, $100 is practically spare change.

However, for us mere mortals, $100 is a pretty big sum of cash which shouldn't be thrown about lightly.

One fan certainly took the amount more seriously when it came to asking the talk show tycoon for some Christmas gift inspiration, a clip of the interaction later going viral on TikTok, people flooding to the post over Winfrey's reaction in particular.

The video, which has gained more than 800,000 views on the platform, shows the fan asking the 68-year-old for ideas on what to buy his mom, who is apparently in poor health.

Oprah first suggests that the cameraman buy a jewelry box that she featured on her show, however the fan is quick to point out the price tag, explaining it's a bit too expensive.

When Oprah, who has a net worth of over $2 billion to be exact, points out it's 'only like $100', the unseen fan insists that he needs something cheaper for his 'price budget'.

Seemingly surprised that he would find $100 to be too steep, the American philanthropist is forced to think on her feet for a back-up present.

But thankfully, the queen of daytime manages to come up with a sentimental prezzie on the spot.

$100 clearly isn't much to Oprah Winfrey!

Oprah says in the clip: "You do a list of your top ten reasons why you love her, and you make a beautiful card, and it's your top ten."

TikTok users have been left divided over the exchange, some blasting the prolific interviewer as being 'out of touch'.

One wrote: "She said 'Oh You Poor? I have a better gift for you'."

Someone else commented: "The judgement when he said $100 was too expensive," whilst another said: "A billionaire doesn't understand how it is for the rest of us."

However, many people rushed to Oprah's defence and insisted that she had good intentions.

One user commented: "Oprah is a billionaire but she gave a gift suggestion that's $100...but y'all saying she's out of touch."

A fellow supporter wrote: "Bless her heart, she was trying to help. I love both her suggestions. There was no judgement in her tone or reaction. Love her sentimental gift idea."
