Influencer, 29, dies after having liposuction procedure on her knee

Brazilian influencer Luana Andrade was just 29 years old

A Brazilian influencer has tragically died after having a liposuction procedure on her knee.

Luana Andrade, 29, suffered four cardiac arrests after going through the procedure in São Paulo, Brazil.

The liposuction was performed by a private doctor and anaesthetist who were hired by Andrade's family.

Dr. Diovane Ruaro, a plastic surgeon and president of the Brazilian College of Plastic Surgery has been speaking to local media since the news of her tragic death was announced.

He said that Andrade appeared to be in good health before going in for the surgery.

Following her death, São Luiz Hospital said in a statement: "The surgery was interrupted and the patient underwent tests that revealed massive thrombosis.

"She was transferred to the ICU where she underwent medication and hemodynamic treatment."

The influencer's cause of death has been listed as a pulmonary embolism after complications during the surgery.

A pulmonary embolism is a sudden blockage in your pulmonary arteries, which is the blood vessels that send blood to your lungs.

"There is no risk-free surgery, nor any medical procedure that does not involve some type of risk, especially when it is a surgical procedure," Dr Eduardo Teixeira of Brazilian College of Plastic Surgery told local media.

Since the model's tragic death, many have flocked to her social media pages to pay their respects.

The influencer's partner, Joao Hadad, took to Instagram, saying he is now living his 'worst nightmare'.

He penned: "I’m torn and living my worst nightmare. A piece of me is gone.

"Today, it is difficult to understand God’s plans, and I do not know when and if I will ever process the absence you will make in my life and in the lives of a legion of people who loved your presence."

Some of her nearest and dearest have paid their respects.

Soccer player Neymar also remembered Andrade on social media, paying tribute to his friend on Instagram Stories.

He said: "Sad day with two very bad news. First it was the attack that Bru's [Bruna Biancardi's] parents suffered, but thank God everyone is fine!

"Secondly, the death of a friend. My condolences to the whole family, may God receive Luana with open arms."

Andrade boasted a massive following online, having over 500,000 followers on Instagram while also being an assistant on the show Domingo Legal.
