JK Rowling says she is prepared to go to jail over her views on transgender people.

The Harry Potter author has attracted a lot of headlines over the years for her controversial opinions.

She has been concerned with the idea that trans women are erasing a cis woman's experience.

Rowling was widely criticized for saying trans women can't ever be considered a true woman because they can't experience things like pregnancy and periods, or have had to deal with puberty or the issues that affect women before transitioning.

TIME magazine also says the author believes people who are trans or non-binary are simply just confused about their gender or sex.

Unsurprisingly, there were many who disagreed with that view, and even saw several stars from the Harry Potter franchise speak out against her.

While she's received deaths threats for her opinions, she's not backing down.

In fact, the author is happy to even spend time in prison to continue spouting her position.

She posted an image on X/Twitter that had a slogan that said: "Repeat after us: trans women are women."

Rowling wrote 'No' in the caption.

One person commented saying 'Vote Labour, get a two year stretch', which is referring to the party's plan to make it a hate crime if you deliberately misgender someone.

Rowling replied to that, saying: "I'll happily do two years if the alternative is compelled speech and forced denial of the reality and importance of sex.

"Bring on the court case, I say. It'll be more fun than I've ever had on a red carpet."

It seems the declaration has seen her supporters even more emboldened.

Rowling's comments have caused offence.

They are praising her for her dedication to continuing her controversial narrative.

One fan said: "You are a brave and honourable lady."

Another wrote: "JK would absolutely be running that joint.

When one supporter asked her where she would liked to be based in the prison she said the library, 'obviously'.

"But I think I could do ok in the kitchens," she added.

"Laundry might be a problem. I have a tendency to shrink stuff/turn it pink accidentally. Guessing that won't be a major issue if it's mostly scrubs and sheets, though."

Rowling has been pedalling her fear of trans people, particularly trans women, for the last few years and while she has lost many followers, she has gained others who believe she's just exercising her free speech.

However, that speech has and continues to cause hurt, upset and danger for trans people everywhere.
