There have been many responses to the recent conflict in Israel and Palestine.

Over the weekend, Hamas killed hundreds of Israeli civilians during a coordinated attack on the country.

Militants launched an air, land and sea assault and have taken more than 100 people hostage.

Israel has responded to the deadliest attack on their country in decades with a barrage of airstrikes on Gaza.

These missile attacks have flattened buildings, destroyed neighbourhoods, killed hundreds and left many wounded.

Plenty of people have taken to social media to voice their views on the unfolding bloodshed, including celebrities.

While some have been criticized for their approach to the issue, Gigi Hadid has been praised.

Her father, Mohamad Hadid, is Palestinian-American, and she has been vocal in the past about the ongoing conflict for Palestinians.

In a recent Instagram post, the model said: "My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy, and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict too many of which are children.

"I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it's a responsibility I hold daily.

"I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person."

She explained that terrorizing innocent people doesn't align with the 'Free Palestine' movement.

"The idea that it does has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of back&forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of), and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine = antisemitic," she continued.

"If you are hurting, as I share my condolences today with my loved ones, both Palestinian and Jewish, I'm sending you my love & strength — whoever and wherever you are."

She ended her message with: "I know my words will never be enough or heal the deep wounds of so many, but I pray for the safety of innocent lives, always."

Many were blown away by the measured response to the conflict.

Some said it was a masterclass in the way a celebrity should address the topic.

One fan said: "She has to write an essay to explain her stand while her colleagues only have to post up a flag and a hashtag and they have 0 clue about the situation."

Another added: "Gigi has always been real and is amazing representation for the movement."

A third wrote: "If only others understood how easy it is to just layback and do research to formulate and opinion like this and not just post the first thing that’s on their explore pages."

Kylie Jenner was called out for sharing a message of support for Israel on Instagram and then quickly deleting it.

She's lost close to 300,000 followers on the social platform since that moment.
