Dolly Parton reveals relatable reason why she refuses to text

Dolly is relatable af

People have been flooding to social media in stitches over Dolly Parton's explanation as to why she doesn't always text people back.

The '9 to 5' singer may be very much with the times when it comes to her fashion sense, but there's one thing she refuses to stay up to date on: Texting.

Prepare to feel seen:

The iconic country singer certainly stays current with the latest fashions, given she wore white hot pants, a huge silver belt buckle and a crop top at the Thanksgiving game for the Dallas Cowboys.

The 77-year-old faced widespread praise online for her outfit, however, sadly she also received some backlash, one user questioning why she was dressing 'like a 20-year-old Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader'.

While Parton may love getting down with the kids with her outfits, she definitely doesn't care as much about keeping up with the latest technology and her hatred of texting back is as iconic as it is painfully relatable.

Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Parton explained she's 'a low-tech girl' living in 'a high-tech world'.

In a clip from the show posted to Instagram, she continued: "I don’t want to talk to everybody that wants to talk to me. I don’t text ’cause I don’t want to have to answer.

"If somebody calls me, I’ll answer it if I want to talk to ’em or I’ll call ’em back when I can. Otherwise, I’ve got too much to think about than to clutter my mind up with everything else."

Note to self, if I ever try to contact Dolly, call, don't text.

However, just because the singer doesn't like texting back, that doesn't mean she's not capable.

Parton defends herself as 'certainly not a stupid person,' adding she could 'learn it' if she really 'wanted to'.

"But I’d rather just have my fax machine [and] call in my creative stuff to my crew," she said.

And fans of Parton have been flooding to the post in praise of her admission.

One Instagram user said: "'Don’t wanna talk to everybody that wants to talk to me' Same, girl, same!!!"

"My new motto is what would Dolly do throwing my phone out the window after this comment," another added.

Someone else commented: "I. Hate. Texting. Preach @dollyparton."

And a fourth added: "I totally relate, I belong in a simpler time."
