David Beckham has been grilled about his relationship with his eldest son Brooklyn while in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum.

Beckham is in Davos for the summit, which started yesterday (January 19). The likes of Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron are also expected to attend the forum over the course of this week and will likely discuss the POTUS' plans to acquire Greenland.

But while there's turmoil in world politics, Beckham is facing his own personal issues when it comes to family politics.

Beckham and his wife Victoria have become estranged from their son Brooklyn and the 26-year-old shared a tell-all statement yesterday addressing the matter.

In the lengthly post shared over several Instagram Stories, Brooklyn accused his parents of controlling him.

In the wake of his post, Beckham was asked about the statement shared by Brooklyn by Sky News, but the retired footballer refused to answer, the news outlet says.

Beckham was also asked if he had a message for Brooklyn and if he was disappointed that family business was being aired in public.

Part of Brooklyn's statement read: "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed."

He went on: "I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.

"The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out."

UNILAD has previously approached the Beckham family for comment.
