Billie Eilish praised by fans for flying economy despite being famous pop star

The singing sensation was casually chilling with regular folk.

Billie Eilish has done something that few celebrities of her calibre would dare.

Despite being one of the biggest names in the music industry at the moment, it seems like she isn't afraid to sit in economy with regular folk for a flight.

A video has gone viral on TikTok showing a passenger film a fairly stock standard airplane cabin.

The view was filled with the backs of people's heads and looked like nothing was really out of the ordinary.

However, the eagle-eyed traveller managed to spot one person sitting next to a window wearing a beaning with blue stars on it.

While that might not have triggered many, it wasn't until Billie Eilish uploaded a selfie of her in that exact same beanie on a plane that a connection was made.

Her fans have raced to the comments section to support the singer and say how refreshing it was seeing a mega pop star flying in economy.

One said: "Omg she’s so humble being in economy!!"

Another added: "I actually love that she has the money for a private jet but doesn’t do that because of her campaign for protecting the environment."

A third wrote: "Love how she will fly in economy with everyone else."

People also asked whether the fan who filmed the video went up and asked for a photo.

They replied saying they tried but her team said no and people were reportedly told to use bathrooms in the back so they couldn't get a look at Billie.

The 21-year-old has previously spoken about her aversion to flying on private jets.

According to her Vogue interview this year, she 'refuses to fly private and is committed to finding unusual workarounds for travel' due to her climate activism.

"Her determination to reduce her carbon footprint resulted in 8.8 million gallons of water saved, and 15,000-plus tonnes of CO2 neutralized, which Reverb’s recently released tour impact report says is 'equivalent to taking 3,000 homes off the electric grid for a year'," Vogue's Jen Wang wrote.

When asked how she manages to limit her carbon footprint when she goes on a world tour, Billie replied: "I have to take planes. I hate it."

At least she doesn't mind chilling with everyone else, compared to some artists who like to fly private even for the smallest journeys.
