Ben Affleck has revealed what he really thinks after a video of his son asking for $6,000 sneakers went viral.

The Hollywood movie star was praised for having a relatively 'normal' dad-like reaction to his son's apparent expensive taste in treads.

Although he has a net worth of $150 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, Affleck's kids don't always get what they want as shown in a now-viral video with the star and his 13-year-old son, Samuel.

The pair were shopping for trainers when the teenager expressed an interest in a pair of Dior Air Jordan 1s that cost around $6,000.

In response, Affleck quipped: "That's a lot of lawns you gotta mow there."

The Californian actor also told his son that he only liked the shoes 'because they're expensive', but Samuel insisted it wasn't just about the price tag as he said: "No, they're tough! I've always said they look good."

The Oscar and BAFTA Award winner's reaction was praised by fans on social media who were happy to see the youngster apparently has to work for his allowance.

"Ben worth hundreds of millions and said no. make him earn it good dad," one person wrote.

Another added: "Gotta give props to ben man. He raised his kid well," while a third said: "Ben seems so normal."

Now, on a red carpet interview with Access Hollywood while attending the premiere of his latest movie, The Accountant 2, Affleck was asked if his son had committed to his chores to bag the shoes.

He joked: "That's what happened when you tell a motherf***** they have to mow the lawn. All of a sudden, they don't want those shoes."

"You do not need thousand dollar shoes," he continued. "He's like, 'We have the money.' I'm like, 'I have the money, you're broke!'"

Fans are once again applauding the actor's parenting style.

"Self-made millionaires know not to spoil their kids," said another while dozens praised the father-of-three for standing firm against the expensive pair of shoes.

Samuel is one of the three youngsters Affleck shares with Jennifer Garner, who he was married to for a decade before the pair went their separate ways in 2015.

Together, the pair co-parent Violet Anne, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, and Affleck has spoken candidly about how the opinions of his children are all that matters to him.

In an interview with Good Morning America, the dad said: "I will be long dead and someone will ask my kids, 'What was your dad like?' and that is when I will know what my life was worth."

Also speaking about his role in the upcoming action sequel, which hits movie theatres in April this year, Affleck said at the premiere: "It's a really interesting set of characters.

"There are great performances in it, and I feel very confident saying, go see this movie. You won't be disappointed. See it in theaters - I really think you’ll love it.”
