Amber Heard thanks Aquaman fans for 'overwhelming support' despite shockingly small amount of time in new film

The actor only features in a tiny proportion of the movie

Amber Heard has spoken out for the first time since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's release.

The highly anticipated sequel hit cinemas on December 22 last year, and has so far raked in $279.5 million at the box office.

Jason Momoa reprised his role of Aquaman for the film, while Patrick Wilson joined the cast as Orm - Aquaman's estranged brother.

Heard also reprised her role of Mera, but had just 20 minutes of screen time in the two hour-long movie.

She's is mostly seen in the first and last parts of the film, and only has a total of 11 brief speaking parts.

Despite her extremely pared down role, Heard has taken to social media for the first time in months to thank fans for their support.

Sharing a selfie on set while wearing her bright red Mera wig, the 37-year-old wrote: "After all this time, Aquaman 2 made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy).

"Thank you to all of my fans for the overwhelming support and love in Mera’s AQ return. Thank you so much."

She shared the post on Thursday (January 4) and has since turned the comments off.

Heard's lack of screen time in the new film comes after she alleged that those behind Aquaman 2 didn't want her in it.

She made the allegations during her high-profile lawsuit against ex, Johnny Depp.

Heard said at the time: "I was given a script. And then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another.

"They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch."

Heard stars as Mera in the Aquaman franchise.

In the fallout of her divorce from ex Depp, Heard has relocated to Spain with her young daughter.

"She’s bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise," a source close to Heard told Daily Mail last year.

"I don’t think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood, but she will probably come back when the time is right, for the right project."

As well as Aquaman 2, Heard's film In The Fire was released in October.

The movie was filmed in 2022, and the actor hasn't been tied to any projects since.
