Mariah Carey once sued her ex for $50 million for being an 'inconvenience' and kept $10 million ring

The singer reportedly sought an 'inconvenience fee' from ex James Packer

Mariah Carey might not have said 'I do' to her ex-fiancé James Packer, but she allegedly did say she wanted some compensation, asking for an 'inconvenience fee' from her ex.

While the pair never ended up getting married, in 2016 the pop diva apparently decided that she wanted to be compensated for the time she'd spent on the relationship - labelling the money owed as an 'inconvenience fee', which merely scratched the surface of the Australian billionaire businessman and investor's net worth.

A source told ET that the now 54-year-old singer received a 'multimillion-dollar settlement' from her former beau after their breakup.

After announcing their engagement in January 2016, things quickly turned sour for the pair who went their separate ways in October 2016 after an alleged blowout fight in Greece.

A month after their high-profile split, a source revealed to ET in November 2016 that Carey was seeking a $50 million 'inconvenience fee' from her billionaire ex-fiancé post-split.

They are rumoured to have discussed that figure during prenup negotiations when they were planning to make it down the aisle.

The amount of Carey's payout was never formally disclosed, however, a second source revealed to the mag that the 'All I Want For Christmas is You' megastar also held onto her $10 million engagement ring.

The source revealed some more titillating details including the fact the star 'still has the ring and wears it now on her middle finger' and that the couple hadn't spoken for a while before they officially split.

"They 100 percent have not spoken for a year, maybe even longer than that," they claimed.

UNILAD has contacted Carey's reps for comment.

In other news on Carey's former flames, Nick Cannon opened up earlier this month about the star's opinion on how many children he has - of which she mothered two.

Cannon - who has fathered a whopping total of 12 children so far - tied the knot with her in 2008 before they finalized their divorce in 2016.

Cannon explained on The Jason Lee Show podcast: "She high frequency, man. She always asks me, 'You alight? You good? How you doing? You handling it all?'

"She's like, as long as you don't bring none of that bulls**t to the Manor of Carey. Like, she lives in her own world, nothing can infiltrate that stuff. When we talk daily, she's just checking on my spirit," Cannon added.
