Machine Gun Kelly says he's 'best friends' with leeches

Fans have been left baffled by Machine Gun Kelly's revelation his 'best friends' are leeches.

Fans have been left baffled by Machine Gun Kelly's revelation his 'best friends' are leeches.

If you're squeamish, turn away now:

Given the fact Machine Gun Kelly - real name Colson Baker - has previously smashed a glass in his own face and drinks blood with fiancée Megan Fox it's not really a surprise he's revealed his 'best friends' are leeches.

Using leeches may be better for Kelly than drinking his own blood since they're 'effective at increasing blood circulation and breaking up blood clots,' according to Healthline.

However, the 32-year-old subsequently branding the creatures as his 'best friends'? It could be viewed as either slightly sad, or quite sweet - Kelly simply showing his utmost appreciation for the worms' potential health benefits.

Either way, fans of the 'Emo Girl' singer are completely confused.

If Kelly's story is anything to go by, there's nothing like a bit of hairy bellybutton leech content to get your weekend started, the rapper having uploaded a video to his Instagram story yesterday (16 December).

The clip shows the rapper's heavily tattooed stomach with a pile of around six leeches sitting on top, concealing his belly button from view.

While simply captioning the video, 'My best friends,' it's unclear why Kelly decided to chill out with the group of segmented parasites on his Friday evening.

Leeches have been used as medicine since the ancient Egyptian times.

However, medical leeches have been used since the ancient Egyptian times to extract blood and help with 'hypertension, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, skin problems and arthritis'.

Healthline explains: "Medicinal leeches have three jaws with tiny rows of teeth. They pierce a person’s skin with their teeth and insert anticoagulants through their saliva.

"The leeches are then allowed to extract blood, for 20 to 45 minutes at a time, from the person undergoing treatment.

"This equates to a relatively small amount of blood, up to 15 milliliters per leech."

Although, be warned, if you do work up the courage to try the blood-sucking creature, there are potential side effects, such as bacterial infection and 'unnecessary blood loss'.

Whatever his reasons for hanging out with his 'best friends', fans of Kelly have flooded to social media in bewilderment.

One Twitter user wrote: "Everything this dude does is cornier than the last thing. Truly astonishing."

However, another said: "I totally believe that they are his best friends."

"Wow that guy must be bored out of his mind," another commented.

A final resolved: "I heard he farts in Mason jars, seals them, saves them for one year, then opens and smells the fart. He said, 'Smelling aging farts is therapeutic'."
