Machine Gun Kelly apologizes for ‘primal reaction’ after fan rushed stage

Machine Gun Kelly offered an apology for the way he reacted.

Musician and entrepreneur Machine Gun Kelly apologized at Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Summit event on Tuesday after dealing with a fan altercation.

Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, called his response to the fan ‘primal’ but was met with praise from the host and audience. Take a look at the moment the fan took to the stage:

Videos of Kelly’s reaction has begun circulating on social media and shows the incident unfold.

While sat on stage speaking to Forbes interviewer Kristin Stoller, Kelly was seen quickly jumping to his feet after a man approached him on the stage.

“My man, get the f*** away from me,” Kelly can be heard saying as he balls his hands into a fist and squares up to the fan.

The fan attempted to respond before Kelly cut him off and said: "Yo, what are you doing? What are you doing? This is a bad look. Don’t make me do this," before his mic is cut off.

Seconds later, security was seen rushing the stage and grabbing the fan before hauling him off. Kelly then returned to his seat and his microphone was turned back on.

“I’m sorry, I try to live the dichotomy more on this side than the other guy. I left that guy in the past. I’m really sorry,” Kelly said as he reflected on the tense altercation.

“But here is what I would like to say, I do apologize for my primal reaction.”

Cheers and applause can then be heard from the crowd before Stoller also commends the musician for handling the situation ‘amazingly’.

Security quickly rushed over to remove the fan from the stage.

Kelly appeared determined to turn the incident into a positive and commented on the good and bad times for fans to interact with celebrities.

“My advice for people who have an idea, that want to present it to other creators or people they believe can be a vessel for their idea is pick a good time and a place, this was a bad time and a place,” Kelly said.

“When I'm eating food and noodles are in are in my mouth, that is a bad time. When I’m with my daughter at a volleyball game or I am being a father, that is a bad time.

“I think a lot of that are misunderstood, like these are moments that are owed.”

Social media users also defended Kelly for his reaction and praised him for his mature attitude in the aftermath of the incident.
