Larsa Pippen defends her braids after being asked if they are 'culturally appropriate'

The reality TV star argued that the backlash was unwarranted

Larsa Pippen has defended her braids after been asked whether they're 'culturally appropriate'.

The Real Housewives of Miami star sported the hairstyle during a trip to the Bahamas, and it raised a few eyebrows, with people questioning whether it was 'culturally appropriate'.

The 48-year-old was quizzed about the braids during a recent reunion show.

Host Andy Cohen read the following question from a fan: "Watching the tease for the season, I noticed you were sporting braids in the Bahamas.

"Fashion-wise, you can pull it off. But do you think it's really culturally appropriate? I think you're going to get a lot of backlash."

But Larsa was having none of it, insisting it wasn't cultural appropriation.

"I mean, I'm not white," noted Larsa, whose mum comes from Lebanon and whose dad comes from Syria.

"So I don't know - my mom used to wear braids."

She added that she has a braider who comes to her house to do her children's hair.

"I have a braider who comes and braids my kids' hair every 10 days. My son's had braids literally for the last four years," she said.

"I'm going on a trip, I don't want to have to deal with my hair, I'll have her braid my hair."

She continued: "My grandparents are Moroccan. My mom had braids when she was a kid. I've been braiding my hair every time I've gone on vacation since I can remember.

"My honeymoon pictures, my hair was braided. When I was 18 years old, my hair was braided.

"I've always worn braids when I travel."

Larsa has four children with ex-husband and former basketball star Scottie Pippen. That's quite a low return, given that she apparently used to have sex with him four times a night.

The couple married in 1997 and amicably divorced in 2021, after splitting up in 2016 and attempting to reconcile, before beginning the process of separating in 2018.

Larsa recently lifted the lid on what their sex life had been like, claiming that she and Scottie had sex 'four times a night', adding that some married couples having sex three times a week was 'nothing' to her.

In the Real Housewives of Miami reunion trailer, she said: "I was weird for 23 years, I've always had sex like four times a night. So three times a week is nothing.

"I had sex four times a night, every night. I never had a day off for 23 years."

Christ, that's too much, isn't it?
