Kim Kardashian has revealed why she cut a joke about ex-husband Kanye West during her Saturday Night Live stint last year.

Appearing as an infamous guest host on SNL, the savvy social media star showcased her impressive acting skills and comedic timing in a series of sketches featuring fellow A-list celebs such as her mum, Kris Jenner.

However, Kim recently revealed there was one joke she couldn’t bring herself to make on the night.

During the latest episode of the Disney+ Kardashian reality series, The Kardashians, Kim retold the joke, which involved Chris Redd impersonating Kanye.

Redd, as Kanye, was set to say: “Okay, fine you can divorce me. But I need a lawyer, will you be my lawyer fam?” To which Kim would have replied: “No Kanye!”

Redd would then have said: “Fine and you’re not getting a penny, I have the prenup right here.”

Speaking of the joke, Kim said: “I am always afraid of hurting people’s feelings.

“I would never go in there making fun of anyone, especially the father of my kids. Just because we didn’t work out doesn’t mean we don’t have a great love and respect for each other.

“The divorce is so sensitive for him and I’m already saying some in the monologue so I don’t want to make it bad.”

Although Chris did end up impersonating Kanye, there was no reference to his divorce from Kim.

However, during her opening monologue, Kim did take the opportunity to mock her ex-husband. She began: “I married the best rapper of all time.

“Not only that, he’s the richest Black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.

“So, when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to one thing: his personality.”

Kim and Kanye called quits on their marriage in 2021 after tying the knot in 2014. The pair share four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

Since their split, Kim has been open about her relationship with Pete Davidson.

Speaking about how the pair met, the 41-year-old recently said: “Well, I knew him [before SNL] and I saw him at the Met.

“He knew I was hosting SNL, but it wasn’t announced yet, and so he came up to me and we were talking about SNL.

“He was like, ‘Take my number if you need anything'. And I had gloves on and I couldn't get in my phone with the gloves, and I was like, ‘Oh I have gloves! And I can’t...’ And he was like, ‘All right cool,’ and walked away.”
