Jeremy Renner says he's missing his 'happy place' as his recovery battle continues

Renner's road to recovery is a long and arduous, but - if he's learned anything from starring in superhero films - determination is key.

Jeremy Renner has shared an update from his hospital bed as he continues to recover from a horrific snow plow incident on January 2.

The Marvel star remains in hospital after he was nearly killed in a snow plow accident that saw him crushed by the 6,500 kilogram vehicle.

Frankly, he's a superhero in our eyes just for surviving.

But, it seems the 52-year-old actor is itching to return to the spot that nearly claimed his life.

Renner took to social media to share a photo of Lake Tahoe, in Northern California.

The image looks like something out of a snow globe, with the houses pictured dusted with a thick layer of snow.

"Missing my happy place," Renner captioned the post.

Although he's missing the idyllic winter holiday spot, it will be a while before he's back out there, carving up fresh powder or throwing snowballs.

Renner's road to recovery is a long and arduous road, but - if he's learned anything from starring in superhero films - determination is key.

He's usually known as The Avengers' stalwart tough guy Hawkeye, so it seems Renner is channelling some of his character's sprint and true grit in reality as he tackles physical therapy.

The 52-year-old actor's sister, Kym, told People that her brother is battling through his recovery and therapy in hospital.

"They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans," she said.

"He is crushing all the progress goals. We couldn't feel more positive about the road ahead."

Renner is recovering in Reno Hospital and is now in a 'critical but stable condition' after the horror incident.

A representative told Deadline: "We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023.

"They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

The actor posted on social media after regaining consciousness to thank the public for their overwhelming support.

"Thank you all for your kind words," he said.

"I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all."
