Chris Brown responds after he's criticized for furiously throwing fan's phone into crowd

The singer caused controversy over his actions in Berlin

Chris Brown has responded to backlash after he was filmed launching a fan's phone into the crowd while she was on stage with him.

The singer, who is currently in the midst of a world tour, obviously wasn't happy at having to share his fan's attention with a phone at his gig in Berlin, but fans were equally as unhappy with his response to the situation.

After being hit with criticism over his decision to toss the phone into the crowd, Brown took to Instagram to share his response:

The incident at the gig was caught on camera by another concertgoer before being shared online by a baffled TikTok user, who couldn't get over the fact that the woman was missing out on what surely would have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience by choosing to look at her phone instead.

Though many of Brown's fans would no doubt have given anything to trade places with the woman, a lot of people agreed the way he handled being ignored was too harsh.

"Chris Brown had zero right to take someone’s cell phone, and throw it into a crowd," one person wrote after seeing the footage, while another commented: "Sorry Chris Brown is a literal piece of sh*t for throwing that girls phone into the crowd like that."

Following the backlash, Brown took to his Instagram Story to give people an insight to the experience 'cool fans' get if they join him on stage.

He shared a video seemingly filmed from the floor of the stage - even though that's not quite the view fans would have - and showed himself gyrating across the floor before picking up the phone and singing into the camera.

Brown also shared a post to assure people that the fan in the original video was reunited with her device, writing: "Shawty got her phone back too..," alongside a laughing-face emoji.

Exactly what condition the phone was in when the fan got it back is a different question altogether.

The fan invited on to the stage in Berlin is one of a number of concertgoers who have had the same experience after Brown kicked off his Under The Influence tour this year.

Whoever Brown chooses to grab from the crowd is able to join him in front of the audience, sitting on a chair in the centre of the stage while the singer performs around them - and even on top of them, at some points.
