Britney Spears' ex-husband, Jason Alexander, has been convicted after he turned up at the singer's home uninvited on the day of her wedding to Sam Asghari.

Spears was preparing to tie the knot on 9 June when Alexander shared an Instagram Live story revealing he was outside her house and planned to 'crash' the wedding.

The video showed Alexander walking through Spears' home trying to find her, and entering a marquee where flowers were being arranged in preparation of the event.

Alexander claimed the singer had invited him, saying she was his 'only wife', but he was stopped when he was confronted by security.

He was initially charged with felony stalking, trespassing, battery and vandalism, with a police spokesperson explaining at the time: "An altercation occurred with the security officers and that's where the battery occurred... and during the altercation an item was broken, so that's where the vandalism comes into play. And by being on private property, the trespass comes into play."

Prosecutors ultimately dropped the stalking charge, but a security guard confirmed to a court in California that Alexander had managed to get inside Spears' home and try to enter her bedroom while she was locked inside.

The guard said he confronted the ex-husband, at which time they got into a struggle.

On Friday (12 August), Alexander was convicted of aggravated trespass and battery and sentenced to the 64 days he has already served in jail. He was also hit with a restraining order a few days after the wedding, with a judge ruling in June he couldn't contact or disturb Spears for at least the next three years.

He was married to Spears for just three days in 2004 after getting to know her as childhood friends. Spears went on to marry Kevin Federline, with who she shares two children, before tying the knot with Asghari, her fitness trainer partner.

The singer has described their relationship as a 'fairytale' and celebrated their union in a post on Instagram, writing: "It was the most spectacular day. I was so nervous all morning but then at 2:00 pm it finally hit me... we’re getting married!

“I had a panic attack and then got it together. The crew who created our home into literally a dream castle were fantastic! The ceremony was a dream and the party was even better!”

There were a number of famous faces in attendance at Spears and Asghari's wedding, including Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez, Madonna and Paris Hilton.
