Tim Cook has come under fire for an apparent internal memo he sent to employees following Alex Pretti's death.

On January 24, ICU nurse Pretti was fatally shot by a federal agent after he was involved in an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

His death came shortly after another officer shot at 37-year-old mother Renee Good, who died as a result of her injuries.

With the two shootings in mind tensions in the city between ICE agents and civilians have been extremely high.

Many have spoken out publicly and condemned ICE's actions, with the likes of Mandy Moore saying Pretti was 'executed' and that the current circumstances in America is 'terrifying territory'.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has seemingly addressed the ongoings as well in a leaked internal memo sent out to employees that was obtained by Bloomberg.

He allegedly wrote on Apple's website for employees: "Team, I am heartbroken by the events in Minneapolis, and my prayers and deepest sympathies are with the families, with the communities, and with everyone that's been affected."

Cook continued: "This is a time for deescalation. I believe America is strongest when we live up to our highest ideals, when we treat everyone with dignity and respect no matter who they are or where they’re from, and we embrace our shared humanity.

"This is something that Apple has always advocated for. I had a good conversation with the president this week where I shared my views, and I appreciate his openness to engaging in issues that matter to us all."

He concluded his memo by writing that he was 'proud' of how Apple's employees care about the world and said that empathy is 'one of Apple's greatest strengths' as he thanked everyone for 'all that you do'.

Cook's comments, which have been confirmed to CBS News, have left people divided on social media, with oe person saying: "Tim needs to focus on making the iPhone keyword work well again."

"Exhibit A for weak leadership 101," said a second.

"You should be ashamed @tim_cook it is obvious you lack a moral compass and only think in dollar terms," raged another.

"This was a nothing burger response," a different person said on Cook's message.

Others were more sympathetic, however, with one adding: "Don’t know why so many people are angry at Tim Cook. He is in tech company. Nothing to do with it."

Another person penned: "It was very well said. I think he handled it with grace and understanding."
