Man turns the tables on squatters who moved in and took over his mom’s home

A Nevada handyman decided to take matters into his own hands when squatters took over his mom's home.

Flash Shelton, the executive director of United Handyman Association, found himself in an unusual situation when a woman moved into his family home without permission.

The predicament unfolded when Flash's mom was left alone in the Californian home after the tragic death of her husband, and the family decided to move her out to rent the property.

Once vacant, they advised the home to rent and one woman who said she was a prison guard showed interest.

She explained she was unable to offer any money or credit towards the home, so naturally Flash turned her away.

However, she was clearly undeterred as she allegedly continued to contact Flash repeatedly until she decided to simply move in anyway.

Flash was unaware that a squatter had taken over until neighbors and the estate agent reported cars in the driveway and lights on in the home.

Documenting his dilemma on his YouTube channel, Flash said: "I started hearing from realtors …. saying that there is this lady and people in the house and a house full of furniture.

"She ended up having a truck of furniture, and literally moved into the house."

Flash looked for help from the local police force and the sheriff's department but was reportedly that they were powerless to help.

He continued: "They said, ‘I’m sorry, we can’t enter the house and it looks like they’re living there. You need to go through the courts.'"

So, the handyman came up with his own cunning plan to turn the tables on the squatters and play them at their own game.

He explained: "All I needed to do at that point was do the same thing they did, and occupy the house.

“If they can take a house, I can take a house.”

And that's just what he did.

His mom wrote up a 'lease agreement', which made Flash the legal tenant from the home and armed with the document, he loaded his car and completed the 10-hour drive from Nevada to California.

The director admitted he packed a gun 'just in case' and pulled up outside at 4am.

Flash waited patiently until the squatters left the house before entering and making himself at home.

When the squatters returned, they were reportedly shocked to find him there but Flash didn't back down.

He told them they needed to vacate the property and take all their stuff with them.

Fortunately, and to his surprise, the unwelcome group were polite and even apologised for the trouble before taking off with their belongings the next day.

Flash said his plan was 'successful', adding: "I think just the fact that I was there was enough.

“It was actually fun to do it. I won’t lie about that."

But would he do it again?

Flash warned viewers in a follow-up video not to follow in his footsteps, in case they aren't so lucky to have the situation end peacefully.

“Not everyone should walk through that door not knowing what you’re gonna find,” he said.

“It’s not always going to be peaceful like that.”
