A waitress working at a Hooters restaurant has opened up about whether her job really is worth it for the money.

In a post on TikTok which has had some 2.8 million times, Hooters waitress Maia Marie shared some of the downsides of her job.

This isn't the first time that Maia has had a big video either, as she previously posted revealing that she had once made some $450 in tips in just half a day's work.

The money might be good at the job, but Maia took to social media to highlight some of the more challenging parts of her job.

In the clip she shared three things about her job which can make it a lot more difficult on a day to day basis.

Hooters is known for employing young attractive women as its waiting staff, with the chain's name also being a double entendre.

Maia revealed how this can result in customers not always behaving appropriately when she's on shift.

She said: “I always knew men were weird but when I started working at Hooters it unlocked a whole another level."

Maia added: “I’m not saying all men are bad, mine isn’t I love him. There are men that will really like make you uncomfortable and not even realize what they’re doing."

As for the second challenge that she often faces at work, this is keeping up the customer service persona in a role which is very public-facing.

She explained: “You have to be ready to put that fake smile on if you’re having a bad day push it out the window and that can be a lot sometimes.”

Anyone who has had to keep up their customer service persona at the end of a rammed double shift will understand that.

And the third one, sadly, can be competition with other servers.

Maia said: “There are girls that are going to be competitive there are girls that are gonna want to skip you in the rotation. Some girls are going to want to take the tip that was left for you off your table.”

But she quickly added that fortunately these people are in the minority, saying: “Needless to say nine times out of ten the girls that you work with are there for the same reason you are and are going to be really cool."

Finally, in the spirit of fairness Maia revealed one of the perks of her job, which is the close friendships and sense of community.

She said: “I have met some of the best girls working at Hooters. My manager is one of my best friends now.”
